Location, Geography and Weather

Location:The island of Cyprus is located south of Turkey, north of Egypt east-southeast of Greece and is the largest of the Mediterranean islands. It has a long and varied history having been the mid point for Europe, Asia an Africa. 

 

Goverment: Cyprus is the only member of the European Union to have a communist government and one of only one of two countries that have elected democratically to choose this type of rule.

 

Weather:The weather on this Mediterranean island is temperate with an estimated 325 days of sunshine.

Cyprus

The island officially known as the Republic of Cyprus was under British rule until 1960 when it gained its Independence and became a Commonwealth and in the year 2004 the Republic of Cyprus became a member of the European Union.  As a member of the European Union and one that sees approximately two and a half million tourists a year they adopted the use of Euros as the countries money as of the 1st of January 2008.
The weather on this Mediterranean island is temperate with an estimated 325 days of sunshine and while it does have a rainy season, the total days of sunshine more than make up for the rainy season. It also has warm to hot temperatures that are a pleasant and dry until the cooler temperatures and the rains of the short winter months. This tends to be perfect living and perfect for tourists.

An Overview of Cyprus:

Cyprus being surrounded by the Mediterranean on all sides is a paradise that holds not only sand beaches that lead to the ocean but also lush mountains that are filled with greenery. The amazing history that can consume visitors of the island as it is so rich in history from each period beginning as far back as mythology its self and up to the present where in many of the villages have a balanced mix of past and present.

Tourism in Cyprus is very high and to accommodate guests to the island the government has set into motion programs to train those who work in the service industry which gives the visitor a pleasurable stay where their needs are met without incompetence. These specially trained people can see to every need of a guest and with all the amenities and activities there is little more a tourist could ask for.

Cyprus has also had many changes in the government to make purchasing land on the island easier for those who want a vacation home or to reside year round on the island along with the policies that have changed to make it easier to bring business with you or begin a new business. While this is a communist government it is also one that was democratically elected into power by the voting people of the island and it is a government that recognizes the power of tourism, return visitors as well as the potential real estate buyer and what it does for their economy.

Cyprus is also engaged in regular export and import with other countries and as part of the European Union they also trade with the United States who also has a embassy on the island. Statistics show that over the past twenty years there has been much growth and securing of the economy on the island as well as new construction, the government has ensured that certain visitors are catered to with the building of certain communities such as golfing communities.

Between the sites and other attractions of the island and the Mediterranean to lure a visitior there they have also ensured that there is the use of certain languages such as English which is known by people of many countries and there is even an island newspaper named Cyprus Today that is printed in English to keep any visitor who has command of this language informed about what is going on in Cyprus every day of the week.
